Premis Communications is a Los Angeles based public relations consulting practice that is certified as a small business enterprise by the State of California Department of General Services.
Paulette Thornton is the principal of Premis Communications. Paulette previously served as the marketing director for Goodwill’s Southern L.A. County headquarters to oversee media relations, community relations, special event management, retail marketing and collateral development. She also is a former public relations consultant to Playa Vista, the largest residential and commercial development project in the City of Los Angeles. Before becoming a consultant, she was a senior account executive for Hill and Knowlton Public Relations, where she managed the public relations program for the BabyCal Campaign, a California Department of Health and Human Services statewide prenatal care awareness effort. Prior to this role, she worked in sales and retail marketing for apparel company giant Levi Strauss & Co, where she served as vice chair of the company’s Southern California Community Involvement Team. She also held account executive positions for both Fleishman-Hillard Public Relations, where she managed Anheuser Busch, Levi Strauss & Co., Kinko’s and Medic Alert Foundation accounts, and for Tobin & Associates Public Relations, where she worked with such clients as Toyota Motor Sales USA, KCET-TV and Caltrans. She began her career serving as the press deputy to former Los Angeles City Councilman Nate Holden.
Paulette received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UCLA, where she also earned certificates in Print Journalism and Copy Editing. While an undergraduate student, she interned for the planning news desk at KCBS-TV News and for the editorial department at Essence Magazine. Paulette served as a longtime volunteer for Big Sisters of Los Angeles, and she is a member of the UCLA Alumni Association.
